Our Cooperative

Agricultural Cooperative Winery & Distillery

The Agricultural Cooperative Winery & Distillery of Tyrnavos was founded in 1961 by the vine-growers of the Tyrnavos region, with the aim of utilizing the area’s rich grape-producing potential through the production and bottling of wine. Today, with its approximately 500 vine-growers as members, it is active in the production of wines, spirits, and beverages, distributing its products across almost all of Greece and abroad.

It is governed by a seven-member elected Board of Directors and managed by the General Director and the Deputy General Director. Its departments include the Oenology Department, the Agronomy Department, the Production Department, the Finance Department, and the Commerce & Marketing Department.
The Cooperative participates in investment and research programs, is an active member of industry organizations and institutions, takes part in events and exhibitions, and serves as a point of reference within the local community.

The Agricultural Cooperative Winery & Distillery of Tyrnavos (A.C.W.D. of Tyrnavos) consists of 451 vine-grower members from the wider Tyrnavos region: specifically, 249 from the area of Tyrnavos, 125 from Damasi, 38 from Ampelonas, 21 from Deleria, 14 from Argyropouli, and 4 from Agia Sofia–Platanoulia.

The members of the Cooperative cultivate a total area of 930 hectares. The largest part is planted with Muscat of Tyrnavos (590 hectares), followed by Roditis (Alepou) with 160 hectares. The products derived from this processing include PGI wines, Varietal and Table wines, Tsipouro of Tyrnavos, Ouzo of Tyrnavos, as well as concentrated and rectified concentrated musts.

Our wines and spirits are produced and packaged in over 80 labels/packaging formats and are sold across almost all of Greece (see map), while a portion is exported to Europe and to third countries.

The winery employs 60 permanent staff members (15 of whom are degree holders), while an additional 40 seasonal workers are employed during the harvest period.

The Cooperative’s facilities cover an area of 50,000 m², and the available tank storage capacity reaches 150,000 hectoliters.

“At last, the administration’s vision for further modernization over the next seven years can be fulfilled through our inclusion in an investment program concerning building facilities and equipment. This investment program, amounting to 4,850,000 euros, will help us operate as an even more modern plant, to the benefit of the Cooperative and its members. We continue with the same faith, the same dedication, and a strong desire for contribution and creativity. We will not stop striving, producing, planning, and innovating.”

Awards for Exceptional Quality

Awards & Distinctions

With decades of experience and expertise in distillation — as well as the unique Moschato Tyrnavou grape variety — the Cooperative has earned numerous international recognitions and awards for the outstanding quality of its wines and spirits, in prestigious competitions in Greece and abroad. Many of the wines we produce have been awarded, including Moschato Tyrnavou Blanc de Noir & Roze, Rodinos, and the distinctive saffron-infused Tsipouro Stigma (International Gold Medal 2015), as well as our five-year Oak-aged Tsipouro, OLD SPIRIT (International Gold Medal 2017). With a recent distinction for our Ouzo (“Best Ouzo of the Competition” at the 24th Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Trophy 2024), the Cooperative continues to receive significant accolades. Above all, we have achieved a widely recognized and high-quality Tsipouro — honored many times with awards and distinctions — yet the greatest reward remains the trust and appreciation of consumers over the decades.
